- I have Tawjihi adabi, can I still study Medicine or Engineering? Can I do a prep-course to convert to ilmi?
No, unfortunately, this is not possible
- I have IB / GCE / SAT / Bagrut / DIAP – how can I apply, what subjects & grades do I need?
Use DAAD database on admission requirements to check if you meet the requirements
- How much German do I need and how long does it take to learn German?
Find out from the DAAD website if and how much German language skills you will need. If in doubt, contact the International Office of your university
- Shall I take DSH or TestDaf?
The Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache (TestDaF) is offered in many countries, so you could take it in your home country. The Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH) has to be taken in Germany and it is offered by many higher education institutions. You may wish to contact the International Office of your university for their rules concerning proof of German language
- Why do I need to know English? (I’ll learn German, that’s enough)?
Unless you already know German very well, you will need English to find out all necessary requirements for studying in Germany and to communicate with the universities. There are also many International Degree Programmes taught in English and for which you will need proof of your English knowledge.
- Which is the best University for Medicine / Engineering / Business Administration?
In the 2016/17 winter semester there were a total of 426 higher education institutions in Germany, including 106 universities, 246 universities of applied sciences, 52 colleges of art and 16 theological universities, all of them offer excellent teaching and research, ranking among the best in the world. You can also use the CHE University Ranking database to help you finding the right university for your subject.
- Can I submit my papers for university application with DAAD?
There are different ways how to apply for a place at a German university, depending on the subject you plan to study, your university entrance qualification and your country of origin. The requirements and deadlines can differ too. The “Study in Germany” website will give you the answers to the most important questions
- How much does it cost to study in Germany?
The cost of living in Germany is quite reasonable. Still, you will need around 850 Euros a month to cover your living expenses. The largest expense is your monthly rent. - Can I get a scholarship for a bachelor degree?
No scholarships are available for a first degree
- Can I get a scholarship for a German language course?
Students who are registered at university and with good knowledge of German (B1 minimum) may apply for the University Summer Courses offered in Germany for Foreign Students and Graduates
- Can I get a scholarship for medicine / dental medicine?
No scholarships are available human medicine or dental medicine at any level, with the exception of International Health Master courses in the DAAD EPOS program or a doctoral degree in natural science subjects
- My English is very good, my studies were in English – why do I still need to take TOEFL or IELTS?
Yes, TOEFL or IELTS certificate is a must, in order to prove that you have the needed English Level and to compare the candidates results equally.
- May I submit my IELTS / TOEFL test result a few days after the deadline?
No, unfortunately, this is not possible. All applications with the required language test result will be automatically disqualified
- Why do you need excellent grades, recent graduates? I have good working experience, does that help?
All DAAD scholarships are excellency scholarships, but relevant experience also plays a role in the evaluation process.
- What does the scholarship cover?

Please note that you can only apply up to six years after your last degree obtained!
